The City of Surrey, local community volunteers,, and a team from SORCE will be on hand in Invergarry Planting trees today. If you would like to help out, the fun starts at 10am this morning.


Invergarry Park is located at Surrey Road & Wallace Drive in North Surrey, British Columbia.

Plant the next shrub or tree in Surrey parks and along boulevards. We'll provide the plants, shovels, and instruction - you just have to bring your love for beautifying our City and enhancing the trees in Surrey!
Since 1991, volunteers have planted over 10,000 trees throughout Surrey. Thousands of volunteers have made an impact, like

• elementary and secondary schools,
• local businesses, and
• individuals who care about their environment.

Williams Lake

This weekend my brother and I had the opportunity to check out the riding scene in Williams Lake. This is a trip that I had been meaning to do for a long time but had always been put off by the "long" drive. Like most things, the idea of the drive was a lot worse than the reality of it, beautiful scenery all the way up the Fraser Canyon and next to no traffic made it quite a pleasant journey.

The Invergarry bike park official grand opening is today!

Join SORCE (Surrey Off-road Cycling Enthusiasts) on Saturday September 1. The grand opening is scheduled rain or shine 11am-2pm.

 There will be music, swag giveaways, a dirt jump bike draw( Bike Provided by the Bike Zone), great food by Central City Brewing and Restaurant and much more. Come ride the awesome new facilities at this unique bike park. Featuring an all-levels freeride trail, a large pump track, cross country loop, kids jump area and a natural freeride bowl area. There are lots of riding features for all genres of off-road cyclists.

Invergarry is now open

Thanks to all the event sponsors: The Bike Zone, Central City Brewing, City of Surrey! We had a great turn out and got a ton of really excellent work done on the new bike park.

Invergarry bike park

Phase 1 of the construction at Invergarry bike park is now complete. Well... What does that mean? It means the machines are done and any dirt from now on gets moved by hand. There is a lot of stuff to ride, and some stuff that needs finishing, so come out to the bike park this Saturday!


The new bike park features an XC loop which climbs and descends thru many types of forest. There is an all-levels freeride trail called Shovel Buster with jumps meant to remind you of Whistler's Crank it Up and Aline. The bike park also features a unique advanced/Expert only freeride gap jump area located in a natural sloped-bowl area, located right near by is the beginner jump area. The park also features a large pump track with a ton of lines and fun corners.


The City of Surrey will be on hand to provide lunch for attendees and be there to answer questions. SORCE (Surrey Off-Road Cycling Enthusiasts) will be there to sign up new members. So be sure say Hi to SORCE while you are there. SORCE works really hard to put on races like the BC Cuo XC race 'the JunkYard dog'. SORCE looks after all the bike parks in Surrey and they rely upon volunteers to keep everything running smoothly. SORCE is in urgent need of volunteers, so any help is appreciated! . The focus of Saturday's dig day will be packing and shaping the pump track, and buffing and shaping and building on the freeride trail. The dig day will be led by Derek and Jordan from Dirtwest.

There is a great bike park to enjoy in Invergarry, but as with any machine-built riding features, they need some love before they are perfectly shaped and rideable. Please come out to the event and if you want to help out some more sign up to SORCE

There will be Free Stuff and Schwag handed out throughout the day and Free Food. We look forward to seeing you at the Dig Day/Opening Day, Bring your bike too!

We got some tweaks completed on the new pump track and beginner jumps area finished up last Sunday. The changes equal better drainage of the track and a better flow.

Truckee Pump Track

Some folks in the North Lake Tahoe Area put together a smashing-looking pump track. They got the idea to build the track after visiting another cool pump track in Sun Valley Idaho. There is a video too after the jump too.>>

Bear Mountain DH

The Bear Mountain Downhill Chanllenge is coming Sunday July 1. This BC cup round is super fun to race and a great one for spectators. Show your support for this awesome race on a classic course.

 It has been a while since the last Invergarry bike park update. ESP finished the machine work portion of the construction process. Now it is time to pick up our shovels to buff everything, add drainage and make to everything ride-able for the bike park.

What: A fantastic suburban mountain bike course, the Junk Yard Dog cross country race is back for 2012. Loaded with technical singletrack, The Junk Yard Dog is a great, relatively flat, sprint race course with lots of great spectator areas.

When: Sunday June 10th, 2012 10:00am.

Where: Located In the City of Parks, Surrey, British Columbia.  The South Surrey Bike Park is 10 min from the US border and 50 min from downtown Vancouver.

Port Kells Dig Day!

Armed with the new tools provided for us by the City of Surrey we commenced to complete the big set of jumps at Port Kells Lucky Trails. Although we had a modest turn out, a ton of work was completed including a transfer line from the middle set to the big set.

Big thanks to Travis at Velocity Cycles for providing some awesome DVD's and a flat of much needed Red Bull. Thanks as well to Kelly from Eye of One clothing for the sick t-shirts, and Lisa at Price Smart Foods in Clayton Heights for the gift certificates for lunch.

Looking forward to seeing more people coming out to session the jumps and add more features on the next dig day June 16.

Progress in Invergarry is all weather dependent at this time of year. Another great day of progress was had yesterday on the Freeride trail. We had a lot of Volunteers out in force shaping and packing the newly formed jumps and rollers.

I dropped by the 604 pump track last night to snap a photo. The track is running smooth and looks gorgeous with the springtime transformation taking place. That is all.

Shlohmo - Remixed

This is the brand new video for a really excellent new track. Our friends at Video Marsh dropped this gem late last night.

The video seems to delve into a massively deranged psychology. The first and last shots of this video add an extremely dark overtone to an otherwise hypnotically pleasant hallucination. The high contrast between the wonderfully colourful abstract moving shapes continually merging and dissolving into one another offset by vague images of remembered faces floating to the surface increased the impact of the already undeniably dark and macabre finale.

There is definitely a lot of hidden stuff in this one, you might want to watch it again.

Valmont bike park

This is QuadCopter aerial video of Valmont bike park located in Boulder, Colorado. This City park has everything, gravity fed lines, all levels jumps, and features normally reserved for resort-type bike parks like Whistler. What the folks at Alpine bike parks have created looks epic.

La Poma bike park

Roy Groenewegen going big on the dirt jumps at the La Poma bike park. This is a City bike park located in Barcelona, Spain. In my opinion this is the future of City bike parks, rider-designed and executed.

INVERGARRY UNDER CONSTRUCTION

We are pretty pumped that the bike park in Invergarry park is under construction. The contractors have been busy building some really great Whistler-style features on the new freeride trail. They will also be building a pump track and some other really cool features. I'm not going to give too much away, so just enjoy this time-lapse of a some building/packing work being completed.

Remember: While the bike park is under construction, we ask that you give the machine operators room to do their work. Please Stay out of the work area. It won't be long until its complete!

We will still need lots of help after the machines are done. There will still be some packing and finishing of the new trails, jumps and the pump track. We also hope to have some tree planting days closer to fall.
