Sumas Mountain

Proposed Gravel Pit on Sumas Mountain Seriously Threatens Mountain biking
266531 BC Ltd has made application to begin new gravel mining on Sumas Mountain. This gravel pit will affect access to the Sumas Mt. Regional Park as well as destroy “Time Killer” in its entirety. Access to “Devils Throat”, “World Cup” and “Noah Fear” will likely be blocked as well. Mountain biking in the Abbotsford area will suffer greatly if this application goes ahead.

Constructive destruction

Until today, There was a step down and a berm within close proximity to a salmon spawning creek in an area near the 604 pump track. We try very hard to show stewardship and respect toward the local community and environment. Unfortunately the location of these features were compromising that goal.

We decommissioned these two features and spread forest debris and logs to further discourage riding and building in this area. We spoke with the builders of these former features and explained why the features were decommissioned and why this type of construction needs to be avoided.

We respect our good relationship with the local community and wish to further show our good intentions, If you visit the 604 and find garbage or other issues please contact us. We will attempt to remedy this situation as soon as possible.
